La campagne Dignité pour touTEs exige une action vigoureuse et soutenue de la part du gouvernement fédéral pour combattre les causes structurelles de la pauvreté au Canada.

  • Nous voulons un plan fédéral pour l’élimination de la pauvreté complémentaire aux plans provinciaux et territoriaux.
  • Nous voulons une loi fédéral contre la pauvreté qui assurera un engagement durable du gouvernement fédéral qui guaranti son implication et son imputabilité.
  • Et, nous voulons un investissement fédéral suffisant dans la sécurité sociale pour tous les canadiens.

Alternative Federal Budget seeks to reduce poverty together

Today, the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives (CCPA) released the annual Alternative Federal Budget (AFB) 2013 in advance of the federal budget expected in late March. This year’s AFB, entitled, “Doing Better Together” proposes a financial plan that focuses on the public good as opposed to austerity measures that undermine growth and hurt low-income Canadians the most.

Bill C-400 is dead. It’s not surprising that the NDP-sponsored bill calling for a National Housing Strategy was defeated by the Conservative majority. Private member bills hardly ever get past second reading. And one backed by the NDP probably never had a chance with the Harper government.
