Come on Out to our Event to mark International Day of the Eradication of Poverty.
I am hoping to have speakers from the community share their stories of living in poverty.
I plan to invite our existing City Council members along with our Mayoral Candiates, at Large Canidates and ward Candiates to come listen to community members.
Our newly elected NDP MPP has been taking the ODSP "diet" challenge, living on literally a couple bucks a day - "A Day in the Life of" someone on ODSP.
I plan on inviting community groups, community stakeholders to attend

Social determinants of health (SDOH)are conditions in the places where people live, learn, work, and play that affect a wide range of health and quality-of life-risks and outcomes.
The webinar will introduce the SDOH and concentrate on two determinants , food security and income.
Robert S. Wright, MSW, RSW will introduce the social determinants of health. Mr. Wright is a Social Worker and Sociologist whose 31 year career has spanned the fields of education, child welfare, forensic mental health, trauma, sexual violence, and cultural competence.
Karen Theriault is a Director, Development & Communications at Feed Nova Scotia and will speak on food security as a determinant of health. Food insecurity can be devastating. People who are food insecure are more likely to experience poorer mental and physical health outcomes.
Two speakers from the PEI Working Group for a Livable Income will speak on the second determinant, income. The Working Group formalized its Basic Income Guarantee program in 2013 and called it C-BIG PEI (Campaign for a Basic Income Guarantee PEI).
The Face of Poverty Consultation (FACE) is a faith based organization devoted to the eradication of poverty in Nova Scotia. It collaborates with other organizations with the same objective, monitors and advocates with governments, and holds educational events like this one on the social determinants of health.

Community Development Council of Quinte
10/15/2022
8:30 am - 3:30 pm
In-person only
Our event will be small and informal, with the intent of sharing and gathering information.
An information display will be set up at the Belleville's Farmer's Market, manned by staff of CDC Quinte. Staff will talk to interested passersby about local and national food insecurity statistics and their effects, income-based solutions, and about building communities around food. A "bagged lunch" of information, Chew On This! magnets, and local apples will also be handed out to those who are interested.
People will also be invited to share their experiences with poverty and food insecurity in any way they wish: pictures, quotes, their wishes for the future. We will provide art supplies and allow people to share as they wish, creating a "living wall", which will then be used for future campaigns.

We will share our story using video and a statement to the Alberta government to be released on our social media at Noon on Monday, October 17th as a means to address food insecurity in Alberta.
